Ensure your own body is optimally supplied with nutritional supplements

Generous supplementation, i.e. the intake of dietary supplements, has been a matter of course for me for many years. I am convinced that even with a carefully selected diet, we cannot provide our body with everything it actually needs to function optimally into old age. What exactly do I mean by that?
The quality of our food has changed dramatically. Nutrient-rich, healthy fruit and vegetables are supposed to grow in soil that has been depleted. The air is polluted, genetic manipulation and drug residues are part of the food process.
My generation grew up in a time when pesticides, factory farming, industrial and convenience products, plasticisers, glutamate, flavour enhancers and preservatives, refined sugar, sweets and practical household helpers such as sauce powders and baking mixes have found their way into our lives.
Looking back just two generations, we probably only need half as many calories today as our grandparents did. But have we really adapted this intake to our mostly sedentary and industrialised lifestyles? And which nutrients do we get our calories and energy from? Mainly from fat and protein, as our ancestors always did, or from carbohydrates = sugar? I think you know the answer...
Nevertheless, our body still needs 100 % of vital substances.
We are not immediately seriously ill if they are not fully covered in one place or another. But we feel and see it: it can be exhaustion, poor digestion, susceptibility to infections, headaches, muscle and joint pain, melancholy, skin and connective tissue problems, weight gain, allergies, hormonal and metabolic disorders and much more. If this goes unnoticed, a creeping process and vicious circle begins.
The consequences are fatal: never before have there been so many overweight people, so much burnout, diabetes, cancer, dementia, Alzheimer's and strokes.
Control your own quality of life
For me, the freedom of self-responsibility also means taking a close look and listening to what we are told about nutrition on the market and through advertising, as well as by politicians and the pharmaceutical industry. It is always worth finding out about your own quality of life through various channels, forming your own opinion and taking action yourself.
Supplementation means supplementing our diet with nutrients that are lacking. Supplements are not "healing medicine". They fill deficiencies. And thus offer the body - always in conjunction with a balanced diet and sufficient exercise - I need the necessary care to master its complex, interdependent processes and procedures. The older I get, the more I realise how they do me good and keep my body and mind in balance.
It is my responsibility to look after my body. I can influence this myself: create the basic conditions for health and well-being and counteract age-related physical changes.
But not all nutritional supplements are the same
Much of what we are offered is beautifully packaged and the description sounds great. However, the nutrients they contain are often so low that deficiencies in the body can never be replenished. Or only part of an entire complex is contained, which has no effect. Or the quality of the substances is inferior. Or possible synergy effects through combinations of some substances are not offered.
I believe that a lot of money is spent in drugstores, pharmacies or online shops on supplements that have no great effect in terms of their ingredients, concentration and composition.
Especially when women 50+ in the final phase of the menopause experience increasing physical suffering - for example due to exhaustion, hormonal fluctuations, weight gain, poor digestion, migraines, sleep disorders and much more - we resort to them. We trust and hope to get the problems under control.
And are disappointed again when the effect fails to materialise. So it's not surprising that many women say with resignation: "I'm not going to do anything now, it won't help anyway"
It is therefore important to take a close look at which products you choose. And it depends on your initial situation, where you and your body currently stand, in order to make a targeted start.
